Musik und die Iren - Music and the Irish

I recently spent some days in Cork, Ireland. I went there with the choir I sing in, so I was surrounded by two great things: music and friendly Irish people. These are the two things I now want to talk about.
We stayed in a bed&breakfast (Belvedere Lodge) a bit out of town (we went about one hour until we reached the city centre). Right after our arrival, we were lucky to get to know the hospitality. Although they usually only serve breakfast, we got a great snack. Having rehearsals there was no problem too and the Irish breakfast made our stay perfect.
In the city centre of Cork, which is rather small, I also felt like being surrounded by friendly people all the time. They weren't only friendly to tourists but also among themselves.

Electric Bar, Sth. Main Street
The host of Cork International Choral Festival, which we attended, didn't only say "welcome" but "Céad míle fáilte" - meaning "a hundred thousand welcomes".
Thanks to this festival, we also had the opportunity to sing and give concerts at great places and we met other brilliant choirs. No matter how many people listened, we always felt welcomed. No matter which location - be it Cork City Hall, Honan Chapel or a concert on the street in front of Electric Bar - we gathered experiences I wouldn't want to miss.
Between singing and singing, we luckily had the possibility to explore the city a bit. The main street, St. Patrick's Street, is thanks to pedestrian area and many shops very beautiful. Oliver Plunkett Street running parallel to St. Patrick's is also very nice. There are many Cafés and great street musicians. The most beautiful church, according to my opinion, is the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul (St. Peter and Paul Place).

We also got to know one last thing, which one must not forget in Ireland - again thanks to friendly Irish people. We went on a pub-tour and saw typical Irish pubs we would have never found alone. In the last pub, we were even lucky to listen to live-music.
As you can see: the two things I'm talking about can't be separated - and they made this journey unique for me!
